March Progress Report

2008-04-17

If you have not driven by the Kroc Center site lately, you will be amazed at the building's growth…in spite of continuing "winter" weather! Snow is still evident in places, but that doesn't dampen the excitement of this wonderful promise becoming reality.

The gym walls are in place, and the competition pool area is taking shape. This photo, taken in March 2008, shows the walls around the Aquatic Center area. Underground plumbing and electrical has also been started, a task which will take several months to complete for the entire project.

Pictures and drawings give a hint of what this exciting area is like, but when you stand in the middle of it, it is so much bigger than you can imagine!

The chapel's concrete walls have been topped out at 52 feet, shown here in early March with the American flag placed at the highest point (just visible in the upper center of this photo). Behind the fence is Ramsey Park. This view shows both sides of the chapel, whose slightly rounded walls slope to the front, part of the Center's "wow" design. Once the masonry walls are completed, natural stone from the area will be applied to the outside to give the building a Northwest look.

Be sure to drive by soon if you haven't. The excitement is building with every passing day!
