The Salvation Army will cover ongoing maintenance and operation of the Kroc Center. Approximately 50% of annual operating costs will be covered by the permanent endowment, and the rest will be covered by memberships fees, rentals, and user group fees.

It was Joan Kroc's intention that a Ray & Joan Kroc Community Center would be sustainable and her research showed that an endowment would be necessary for a community center to operate in the black.

What will membership fees include?

Unlimited Public Session access to Aquatics, Gymnasium, Recreation Room and Fitness Area. (Subject to availability); Discounts on classes and leagues; Pre-registration opportunities.

Will families who can't afford the membership fees be able to use the Kroc Center facilities?

Absolutely. The Kroc Center will be available to everyone in the community. For those who cannot afford the full fee a sliding scale or full scholarship will be provided. It was the intent of Joan Kroc and The Salvation Army to provide equal access to the Kroc Center to all members of the community.

Construction is slated to last 18-22 months, and the Kroc Center expects to open in Spring 2009.

What kinds of programs will the Kroc Center offer?

With a facility of this magnitude, the possibilities are endless! Recreational and community programs will be available to people of all ages - children, families, teenagers, and seniors.

How much has the capital campaign raised?

We have raised over $6,000,000, reaching our $6,000,000 June 2007 groundbreaking goal. We continue to encourage those in the community to be a part of this campaign and a part of North Idaho history.

If I make a donation, will it be tax deductible?

Yes, and The Salvation Army is a registered 501(c-3) non-profit. All donations are tax deductible.

Is there a need for annual fundraising to sustain the Kroc Center?

No, although ongoing financial support of the Kroc Center can be used to build the scholarship fund or offer special programs.
